A 69-year-old doctor has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and inappropriately touching four female patients at a public hospital in Madadeni, Newcastle, where he works.
The man was arrested at the public hospital.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, the alleged sexual crimes took place over eight months between August 2025 and April 2026.
“The suspect would allegedly touch the victims inappropriately on their breasts and private parts, and he also allegedly forced some of them to perform sexual acts on him,” Netshiunda said.
“[They] complained to a whistleblower who anonymously alerted the police.”

Netshiunda said detectives from the KwaZulu-Natal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, working with Madadeni police officers, acted on the tip-offs. After the victims opened cases, investigations unfolded, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
“Should [others] come forward with reports of sexual assault and open cases, more charges will be added,” he said.
The doctor is expected to appear in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
