LaLiga giants Real Madrid have revealed their new home kit for next season and, while it will come as no shock to learn that Los Blancos have gone for a white jersey once again, the design is offset by a fresh and bold color combination.

It goes without saying that the shirt is a field of pristine white, much as it has been since the dawn of time — or specifically 1902, when the club began playing in button-up jerseys with a purple sash.

Over the years, the accompanying trim has changed regularly, usually alternating between black, navy, purple, and gold.

However, cometh the new season, cometh a new lick of color as Madrid and manufacturers Adidas have plumped for dark green detailing on the collar and cuffs, while the extra-chunky sleeve stripes have been given a dusky pink glow.

Dark green has never been used on a Madrid home kit before, though it has cropped up as the base for the away and third kits in the past. Pink is also making a return to the palette for the first time since 2020-21.

Real Madrid stars Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior were enlisted to launch the club’s new home kit. Adidas

As far as the ornamentation is concerned, elements of the kit have been inspired by Madrid’s “legacy of elegance” which is most notable in the embroidered detail found on the collar and cuffs. The pattern has been taken from the crown jewels and pearls found perched atop the club crest

The crown was first added to the emblem in 1920 when King Alfonso XIII granted the club his royal patronage, thus transforming them into Real Madrid Club de Fútbol. They soon established themselves as one of the most successful teams in the history of the sport.

Given that their 2026-27 home kit is a testament to their glorious and success-laden past, Madrid will no doubt be hoping that it will coincide with the current team bringing a timely end to their two-year wait for a major trophy having failed to add any LaLiga, Copa del Rey or UEFA Champions League triumphs to their monumental collection of silverware since 2024.

Madrid did claim the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, after winning the 2024 Champions League final, but since that triumph at Wembley — their second European crown in three seasons — it has been two seasons without a major trophy, for the first time since 2006.

This time next year, we’ll know if Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior & Co. will have got the club back to winning ways, or made history for the wrong reasons.
