Brighton and Ffos Las are the venues for Tuesday’s Flat racing, live on Sky Sports Racing from 2.43pm.
3.13 Brighton – King Of War and Buy The Dip feature
A field of seven will go to post in the Sheephaven Bay And Tipsytipsters Remembering Boony Handicap over a mile at Brighton and Michael Wigham will be hoping his seven-year-old King Of War can defy a penalty and land back-to-back wins at the Sussex track.
The gelding has four previous wins at Brighton, all of which are over the seven furlongs and he steps up to the mile distance for only the second time since 2023 – with John Egan returning to the saddle.
Buy The Dip‘s three runs so far this year have all come on the all-weather at Lingfield with a win and a second place among the trio of runs. Jim Boyle’s gelding should not mind a return to the turf though as he has finished in the top three nine times from 11 runs at Brighton with two wins coming over this course and distance.
James Owen will be hoping Rogue Dynasty can go one better than when being denied in a close finish over course and distance three weeks ago, although the four-year-old is without a win in almost a year.
Spirit Of Albion (for Michael Appleby) and George Baker’s Marsh Benham are others to note.
4.43 Brighton – In-form Dion Baker seeks four-timer
Dion Baker will face 10 rivals in the fairplaybet.co.uk Bet £20 Get £20 Free Bets Handicap over seven furlongs. Wigham’s seven-year-old landed the hat-trick over course and distance last week and bids to defy a penalty here and bring up the four-timer with Egan returning to the saddle.
The chief threat to Dion Baker’s four-timer bid may come from John Gallagher’s Havana Mojito. This horse finished second to Dion Baker when last seen. Gallagher will be hoping the 4lb swing in the weights will be enough to reverse the form and help his gelding record a first win since scoring over course and distance here in May last year.
Back in third that day was the James Owen-trained Prefer The Sister, who reopposes the top two again. He was a little awkward the last day but stayed on well late on and may be worth giving another chance here.
Gary and Josh Moore’s Joycean Way and the Michael Attwater pair Bear To Dream and Jackson Street are others to keep an eye on.
7.39 Ffos Las – Dappled Light bids to land hat-trick
A field of nine will contest the WWP 34 Years Finding Customers Their Dream Homes Handicap over the extended seven furlongs, with Adrian Wintle saddling the hat-trick seeking Dappled Light. Having finished seventh on his return to action in April, the six-year-old then recorded successive wins at Bath over a mile and will now look to defy top weight with Edward Greatrex riding for the first time.
At the other end of the weights is Jack Channon’s Red Moon – who is having his third start in handicap company. The three-year-old could not justify favouritism last time out when finishing a well-beaten third but the ground may have been against him that day. A return to a sounder surface should be a positive for the gelding’s chances.
Billy Loughnane takes the ride on Tonal for Ian Williams. This runner has been in good form of late, with five wins from his last nine runs. He could be well handicapped to record another success.
Course-and-distance winner Kaleidoscope Eyes and Ed Walker’s Quilt are others to keep an eye on.
