Man Utd have completed the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50m.
The agreement is broken up into a guaranteed £48m payment plus £2m in add-ons. Chelsea will also retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The Brazil international faced a battle for regular game time in 2026/27, given Chelsea will not participate in European competition.
His long-term pursuit of becoming a first-team starter at the club was further hindered by Moises Caicedo extending his contract until 2033 earlier this year.
However, he now becomes the first permanent signing under Michael Carrick as head coach at Old Trafford. The announcement comes on the same day that Sky Sports News reported that United are advancing in talks to sign Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £36m.
United are also not ruling out signing Ederson this summer despite a breakdown in the deal over a medical issue. It remains possible they return for him before the window is over, depending on how the market develops. But Sky Sports News can confirm Santos has not been signed as an alternative to Ederson.
Santos joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in 2023 and spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest and Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.
Santos featured in 43 matches for Chelsea in all competitions last season, scoring three goals and contributing four assists.
