What’s next for brilliant Beau Greaves? The Premier League? “There is no ceiling – she’s still getting better,” claims Sky Sports’ Laura Turner.

Greaves became the first woman to win a PDC ranking title with a historic 8-7 victory over Michael Smith in Monday’s Players Championship 11 final.

The 22-year-old from Doncaster won seven straight matches in Milton Keynes which included a sensational deciding-leg victory with a 142 checkout over ‘Bully Boy’ in the showpiece to seal a landmark victory in darts history.

The two-time Women’s World Matchplay champion took down a trio of former World Champions en route to the title, including Rob Cross, Gary Anderson and Smith in her final three matches of the event.

“I was glued to it,” Turner told Sky Sports. “I’m sure she does feel pressure. She’s human and she implied in her interview afterwards that she doesn’t get to pull those 142 finishes off under pressure, but she doesn’t show it.

“We all wax lyrical about how beautiful her throw is, it’s so smooth but she uses it to perfection.

“She started to have deeper and deeper runs on the ProTour and there must have been some expectations because she’s picked up a record 53 Women’s Series titles since the middle of 2022, which is just unbelievable, but it’s now transferring it to the next big thing.

“She’s won on the Challenge Tour, Development Tour, and now she’s won on ProTour, so I can see it happening, but for it to happen so quickly into her first year on the ProTour, that’s something really impressive.”

    A catalyst for more titles

The Love The Darts panel discuss whether Greaves can win a major in darts, after her sensational start to life on the professional tour

Turner believes her victory on Monday will be a catalyst for winning more ProTour titles, despite Greaves admitting to being in complete shock.

“She’s not doubting her ability because you have to put in performance after performance after performance at that level and she has maintained it,” Turner said.

“Everyone is super proud of the progress she is making on the oche but she’s a great person off it.

“I think there is no ceiling to what she can achieve because she’s getting better and her goal now is to take what she’s doing on the floor, keep maintaining that, and try and transition that onto the bigger stages.”

The sky’s the limit for Beau

The World Youth Championship runner-up has made a seamless adaptation to life as a PDC Tour Card Holder, and her latest breakthrough win takes her to within £4,000 of the provisional qualification spots for October’s World Grand Prix – live on Sky Sports.

She has also landed a brace of nine-darters in 2026 – the most recent of those coming on the Development Tour on Friday.

“She’s shown signs of being able to take her form to the next level on TV,” said Turner. “I’m a big believer that when it becomes less scary she will start picking up more wins. How many deeper runs can she have? She’s just won a ProTour title. The sky’s the limit for her.”

    ‘A special, special talent’

    Greaves

Speaking on Love The Darts, Abi Davies and Chris Murphy discuss whether Greaves should be in the conversation for the Premier League

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Michael Bridge said: “If she carries on doing well in these ProTour Events she could qualify for some majors but nothing can stop her. The only person is herself because she has said she prefers playing against other women.

“She’s absolutely dominated the Women’s Series and now that she’s won this it could really push her on to win more ProTour titles.

“She’s a phenomenal player and I’m really looking forward to seeing how she gets on over the ProTour for the next few years.

“We had Fallon Sherrock winning matches at Alexandra Palace while Lisa Ashton won a Tour Card, but unfortunately during COVID it all had to stop. But we’ll be seeing a lot more of Beau Greaves over the next few years. She is such a special, special, talent.”

    Greaves’ shock at ‘unbelievable’ win

An emotional Greaves said after her victory on Monday: “I never thought I’d win one of these. Never, ever.

“I’m so happy. I can’t even describe the way I feel. It’s unbelievable and I feel so proud of myself.

“I never thought that I’d come in here today and win this. I know I’ve got the ability to do so, and I know I’ve got the talent for it, but to play the players I’m playing… I beat Gary Anderson – I couldn’t believe it!

“I don’t know what’s happening. I’m beating players that I’ve watched growing up, it’s just amazing.

“Aside from winning Lakeside [three-time WDF women’s world darts champion], this is my best ever achievement, and hopefully I can kick on now and do well on the television.

    “I’m absolutely chuffed!”

From beating Littler to overcoming dartitis – ‘Greaves has talent to beat anyone’

Greaves has made serious waves since making her PDC women’s debut in 2023 with Wayne Mardle calling her “world class” then, and Turner equally complimentary as to her sheer talent since.

“We know she’s got the calibre to get past anyone,” Turner said previously. “You only have to look at the Youth World Championships. She beat Luke Littler in the semi-finals 6-5. Luke Littler, the world number one!

“She had a deep run in the UK Open as well, beating ProTour players, running Luke Humphries close in a longer length format. So she has most definitely got the game.

“We saw her move into doing the Development Tour, doing the Challenger Tour, picking up titles on the floor, qualifying for the Grand Slam, absolutely obliterating most players in the Women’s Series.

“She’s done it incrementally since struggling with dartitis a few years back. That’s a distant memory now and she’s just built herself up and up. I think the way she’s done it, there’s a lot to be admired.

“There’s a lot of players who are younger now who feel like you have to race into getting to the very top of the game because you’ve seen the likes of a Luke Littler do it. Beau’s done it gradually and she’s done it to suit her situation. And I think it’s great.”

Last October, at the time of Littler’s defeat to Greaves, he posted on X: “I had two 10-dart legs, missed double 12 for a nine and still couldn’t win. Fair play to Beau. All the best in Minehead. Some talent.”

Luke Humphries said at World Grand Prix in November: “I think she’s an amazing player and she deserves it.

“I predict that she’ll flourish playing in it [PDC ProTour].

“She’s been a really great player on the secondary tours this year. She’s good on the challenge tour, good on the development tour and she’ll be a real threat going forward for all the players. Not just for me but for everyone.

“I think she’ll do really well. If she’s relaxed and she’s got no pressure on her shoulders yes, I believe she will be top 64 within the two years for sure.”

Who will win this year’s Premier League Darts? Luke Humphries will be defending his title and you can watch the action every single Thursday until May on Sky Sports. Stream darts and more top sport with NOW.
