A bomb scare caused some disruption outside the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday following an anonymous call that a car with an explosive device was parked outside the building.
Fortunately, no trace of a bomb was found by the authorities.
Police are investigating the bomb threat after Woodstock police received a supposed tip-off earlier that morning.
Western Cape police spokesperson Thembakazi Mpendukana said a call was received saying the bomb would go off outside the courthouse.
“After a thorough search was done around 12:50 at Wynberg Magistrate’s Court and the nearby streets, nothing was found,” she said, explaining that the anonymous caller had claimed the explosive would be inside a car.

Mpendukana said the courthouse was not evacuated, but that the building was thoroughly searched after SAPS’s bomb disposal and K9 units were alerted to the threat.
The matter is being investigated.
