Friday’s weather: Thundershowers in most parts; hot and humid in KZN

Hot and humid conditions are expected in parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of hot and humid conditions in KwaZulu-Natal, while thunderstorms with heavy downpours are forecast for parts of the Eastern Cape.

Isolated thundershowers are expected in most parts of the country.

    Impact-based warnings

Yellow level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours leading to localised flooding of low-lying areas, susceptible roads and bridges, as well as large

amounts of small hail and strong, damaging winds leading localised damage of infrastructure, settlements, vehicles and livestock are expected over the northern interior of Eastern Cape.

In the SAWS’s colour-coded weather warning system, yellow indicates a moderate risk of impact that requires caution and awareness, while orange indicates that higher-risk impact is expected, requiring increased attention and preparation.

SAWS uses the numbers to indicate the likelihood of weather-based impacts occurring. Levels 2 and 6 are high, and level 4 is low.
