KwaZulu-Natal police have confiscated cocaine worth around R13 million during an operation at the Port of Durban.
During a bust at the Port of Durban on Tuesday, KwaZulu-Natal police confiscated cocaine worth around R13 million in a bus that formed part of a shipment from South America.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said: “During an operation which involved officers from Durban’s Operational Response Services and the Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit, 32 blocks of suspected cocaine were found concealed in the air conditioning compartment of a bus.”
The buses were shipped from a South American country and were destined for Gauteng, he added.
“Investigations are under way to uncover the suspects behind the shipment and the intended recipients,” he said.
The operation followed the seizure of drugs in Gauteng in April this year.
At the time of the April bust, police obtained information that indicated that the drugs had entered the country through the Port of Durban.
