Chelsea forward Lauren James has signed a new contract at the club until 2030.
Her previous deal was set to expire in 2027 but the 24-year-old now commits her long-term future to Chelsea, on the same day her brother Reece James – the Blues’ men’s captain – also signed a new deal.
The England international first joined Chelsea to train at the academy from U10 to U14 level, before switching to the Arsenal Women’s youth team where she would go on to make her professional debut in 2017.
She then joined Manchester United before returning to Chelsea in 2021.
Since rejoining the Blues, Lauren James has made 105 appearances and scored 31 goals, helping the club secure four Women’s Super League titles, three FA Cups and one League Cup.
Speaking in a statement confirming her new deal, Lauren James said: “I’m really happy and over the moon to have signed a new contract with Chelsea.
“It’s been my club since I was young, so I’m really pleased to have extended my stay here. I can’t wait to make more memories, hopefully have more success and win more trophies with this amazing club.”

Lauren follows brother Reece in signing new Chelsea deal
The news of Lauren James signing a new deal at Chelsea arrives on the same day her brother, Reece James, also penned a new deal at the club.
He revealed he wants to dedicate his “peak years” to Chelsea after signing a new six-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
His previous deal was set to expire in 2028 but the Blues have headed off any risk of his contract entering its final stages with an extension that will keep him at the club until he is 32.

Reece James and Liam Rosenior share their thoughts after it was announced that the Chelsea captain had signed a new six-year contract at the club.
An academy graduate who first trained with Chelsea at the age of six, Reece James has made 225 appearances in all competitions since making his debut in 2019 and was appointed skipper in 2023.
The England international has lifted five major trophies with the Londoners, including the 2021 Champions League, but feels his best is still to come.
“I am over the moon to have extended my contract – Chelsea means so much to me,” he told the club’s official website.
“I have always said I want my peak years to be here, and I truly believe we have everything it takes to build on our previous successes.
“I’m excited for the future under this ownership, sporting directors, coach and all the staff and hopefully we will lift many more trophies together over the coming years.”
