    Man Arrested on Suspicion of Carrying Weapon Near Former Prince Andrew’s Home

    The police in Britain arrested a man on Wednesday evening after accusations he had acted in an intimidating manner and was in possession of a weapon near the home of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew.

    A statement from the Norfolk Constabulary police force said that the police had been called to the home, Wolferton, “following a report a man was behaving in an intimidating manner in the village.”

    The man, who was not named, in accordance with British privacy rules, was arrested on “suspicion of a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon,” the police statement said. The suspect was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Center for questioning and remained in custody, the police said.

    The authorities did not provide any further details. The Telegraph, which initially reported the episode, said that a man wearing a balaclava mask had run toward Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Duke of York, while the former prince was out walking his dog.

    The newspaper reported, without naming its sources, that the man had shouted at Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor while he rushed toward him. The paper said that the former prince had been accompanied by a member of his private security detail and that they both had gotten into a car and sped away.

    A spokesman for Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor did not respond to an email seeking comment.

    According to the police report, the incident took place near Sandringham Estate, where Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor has lived for the past month. He moved there after being asked to leave his home at the Royal Lodge in Windsor amid revelations about his association with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.

    Questions about the former prince’s security were raised when King Charles III, his brother, required him to move out of his lodging in Windsor, where security is very high. His new home in Norfolk is in an area that is more accessible to the public.
