    Monday’s weather: Warnings for extreme heat, fog, thundershowers across SA

    The South African Weather Service has issued warnings for thundershowers and fog, which will affect several provinces.

    The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued weather advisories for Monday, with extreme heat expected in parts of the Western Cape and Northern Cape, while thundershowers and fog will affect several other provinces.

    Advisories

    Very hot to extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions are expected in the Western Cape and the Namakwa district of the Northern Cape.

    Heatwave conditions with persistently high temperatures are expected in places over the western parts of the Northern Cape and the western parts of the Western Cape, extending into the interior parts of the Eastern Cape.

    Morning fog patches may reduce visibility along various escarpments and coastal areas.

    Mpumalanga: Morning fog patches along the escarpment and eastern Highveld, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the Lowveld.

    Mbombela: 17°C – 25°C

    Ermelo: 13°C – 24°C

    Emalahleni: 15°C – 24°C

    Standerton: 14°C – 26°C

    Skukuza: 21°C – 29°C

    Limpopo: Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

    Polokwane: 16°C – 24°C

    Phalaborwa: 20°C – 26°C

    Tzaneen: 18°C – 26°C

    Musina: 20°C – 28°C

    Lephalale: 19°C – 25°C

    North West: Morning fog in places, otherwise cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east.

    Klerksdorp: 16°C – 30°C

    Potchefstroom: 16°C – 27°C

    Mahikeng: 15°C – 28°C

    Rustenburg: 17°C – 27°C

    Vryburg: 14°C – 29°C

    Free State: Cloudy in the north, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east where morning fog patches are expected.

    Bloemfontein: 14°C – 30°C

    Welkom: 14°C – 31°C

    Bethlehem: 14°C – 27°C

    Northern Cape: Morning and evening fog patches along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot, with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the north-west and along the coast. It will be hot to very hot in the west, but extremely hot in places in the west.

    Upington: 19°C – 34°C

    Kimberley: 15°C – 31°C

    De Aar: 17°C – 31°C

    Alexander Bay: 19°C – 33°C

    Springbok: 25°C – 35°C

    Calvinia: 21°C – 35°C

    Sutherland: 13°C – 31°C

    The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-westerly.

    Western Cape: Morning fog patches in the south, otherwise partly cloudy and very hot to extremely hot but hot in places in the south and south-west. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the eastern half of the province in the afternoon.

    The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-westerly along the west coast, but fresh to strong south-easterly reaching very strong along the south-western coastline. Moderate to fresh south-westerly along the south coast becoming fresh to strong easterly in the evening.

    Vredendal: 23°C – 37°C

    Riversdale: 19°C – 32°C

    George: 19°C – 32°C

    Worcester: 19°C – 36°C

    Beaufort West: 21°C – 35°C

    Eastern Cape (western half): Cloudy with morning fog patches in the south, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and rain in places along the coast. It will become cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers over the interior in the afternoon.

    The wind along the coast will be light and variable at first, becoming moderate south-westerly.

    Eastern Cape (eastern half): Cloudy with morning fog patches in the south, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.

    The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming south-westerly in the evening.

    Gqeberha: 20°C – 28°C

    Makhanda: 18°C – 32°C

    Cradock: 16°C – 34°C

    Graaff-Reinet: 16°C – 34°C

    East London: 21°C – 28°C

    Port St Johns: 20°C – 28°C

    Mthatha: 15°C – 32°C

    Komani: 13°C – 31°C

    Qonce: 18°C – 32°C

    KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers except between Port Edward and Cape St Lucia and adjacent interior.

    The wind along the coast will be light easterly in the extreme north, otherwise light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, reaching fresh in places in the afternoon.

    Durban: 23°C – 29°C

    Richards Bay: 21°C – 32°C

    Pietermaritzburg: 17°C – 30°C

    Ladysmith: 15°C – 30°C
