Very cold, wet, windy conditions are forecast for parts of the Western Cape and Northern Cape with damaging winds and waves between Cape Point and Plettenberg Bay, according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

    Impact-based warnings

Yellow level 4 warning: Damaging winds and waves leading to danger to navigation at sea are expected along the coast between Cape Point and Plettenberg Bay.

Yellow level 2 warning: Storm surge leading to localised flooding of low-lying coastal areas is expected between Saldanha Bay and west of Cape Agulhas.

In the SAWS’s colour-coded weather warning system, yellow indicates a moderate risk of impact that requires caution and awareness, while orange indicates that a higher-risk impact is expected, requiring increased attention and preparation.

The SAWS uses the numbers to indicate the likelihood of weather-related impacts. Levels 2 and 6 are high, and level 4 is low.
