Roman Reigns’ status as head of the table is in danger. Jacob Fatu is on the world heavyweight champion’s scent. The cousins headline WWE Backlash on Saturday with Raw’s top prize at stake.
Fatu won’t wait a moment longer for his breakout. He’s taking matters into his own hands. “The Samoan Werewolf” has no interest in family hierarchy, despite the Bloodline dynamics bleeding into his conquest. His hunger to challenge Reigns has put him in direct conflict with The Usos and The MFTs. Fatu has looked like a top star through all of it, putting into question whether Reigns can withstand a hungrier, younger branch on the family tree.
There are four more matches to go on Saturday and just about every one features a long-building rivalry ready to reach its conclusion. United States champion Trick Williams puts his title on the line against Sami Zayn in a WrestleMania 42 rematch. Williams earned the title by beating Zayn last month and now looks to move on from this rivalry altogether. Iyo Sky and Asuka square off in a rivalry that’s been brewing for months. It took a bit of a hit when one of the players in the story, Kairi Sane, was recently cut by the promotion before the story could reach its conclusion. And The Miz and Kit Wilson are hoping to erase Danhausen from their lives — and WWE — when they face him in a tag team match where Danhausen still needs to find a partner.
