Declan Rice, Marc Guehi and Reece James gave England a triple injury boost ahead of their World Cup quarter-final with Norway.

Rice had been struggling with illness after Monday’s last-16 win in Mexico and had been kept away from team-mates, while Guehi missed England’s training session in Kansas City on Thursday with concerns emerging about a hamstring issue.

However, both players took part in training in Miami on Friday, ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Norway in the city.

James also took part in the session, his first since sustaining a hamstring injury during England’s second group stage game against Ghana. However, head coach Thomas Tuchel revealed that all three were available for selection on Saturday.

“We had everyone available in training. That’s the best news,” Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference.

“We have the full choice except for our suspended player [Jarell Quansah].”

Jordan Henderson, who broke his wrist and arm amid the celebrations of that win over Mexico, was the only player from the 26-man squad to miss the training session. The aforementioned Quansah will also be unavailable to face Norway after being handed a two-game ban for his red card in the last match.

Sir David Beckham visited the England squad, who were using the training centre of the club he owns, Inter Miami.

Carragher backs England to beat Norway

Jamie Carragher is tipping a narrow 2-1 win for England against Norway – but warned Thomas Tuchel’s side not to underestimate their opponents in Miami.

The Sky Sports pundit said striker Erling Haaland will go down as “the greatest goalscorer of all time” – but warned Norway have more about them than just the goals of the Man City star.

“I think Norway will be a tougher proposition than maybe a lot of people think,” said Carragher.

“I watched them against Brazil and I thought they were fantastic. They totally deserved to win that game. They dominated Brazil possession-wise in that second half.

“They have some really good players, but it’s a game we can win.”
